Further Information

As a craftsman working with wood I see myself as an instrument to find and unlock the feeling of affinity we generally have with this natural material I sculpt into useful objects.

As a furniture maker I have found chairs the best objects to express my aim. Chairs are directly related to the human form. So the natural human form and the wood, a product of nature, come together in the harmony of the chair.

Craftsman in the past, with only hand-tools at their disposal, were generally more in touch with the material they were working with. Drawing on this energy from the past I have found the Windsor chair type of construction the most suitable for expressing my vision.

On show, at Waterrow, will be Windsor chairs of various design as well as other styles of seating. I work in all the different timbers depending on what the customer wants, but my preference is still to work in oak. Oak has a timeless appearance and has that durability of the ancient English woodlands. All the furniture I make is hand-made.
